Tree service for Auburndale and Lake Alfred — the towns between the two cities
Halfway between Lakeland and Winter Haven on US-92, Auburndale and Lake Alfred have lakefront oaks, grove-land pines and the subdivisions that filled in the citrus. We cover both from the Polk Parkway.
Auburndale sits on US-92 halfway between Lakeland and Winter Haven — about 20,000 people around Lake Ariana and Lake Arietta, with a 1920s downtown, the big TECO Auburndale generating station, and subdivisions that spread north toward I-4 and the Polk Parkway through the 1990s and 2000s. Lake Alfred, just east, is smaller (about 6,400) and older, home to the UF/IFAS Citrus Research and Education Center since 1917 and surrounded by what's left of the groves. Both are citrus towns by history, and the land around them is old grove, pasture and pine flatwoods turning into subdivisions as fast as the county grows.
The trees track the history: live oaks and laurel oaks around the lakes and the old downtown streets, slash pines on the sandy grove edges, the laurel oaks and queen palms the developers put in during the '90s and 2000s now reaching failure age, and dead citrus and Brazilian pepper on the lots waiting to be cleared. Milton crossed right over this stretch of Polk, and Irma's track in 2017 was close — the 2017 storm left most of the county without power for days and Auburndale's older oaks took the brunt. Our work here is the lakefront oaks, the subdivision laurel oaks and palms, dead-pine removal on the grove edges, lot clearing and mulching on the old citrus land, and the same hurricane prep and storm cleanup we do everywhere in the county.

Questions from Auburndale & Lake Alfred homeowners
The old grove behind my house is full of dead citrus and pepper trees. Can you clear it?
Yes — forestry mulching handles dead citrus and Brazilian pepper quickly, and we recommend a follow-up treatment on the pepper regrowth since it comes back from the roots. Over an acre may need a county or city permit; we check.
Do Auburndale and Lake Alfred require tree permits?
Each city has its own ordinance, mostly aimed at development and specimen trees. Typical single-family removals usually don't need one; we confirm per property.
What does it cost to prune the big oak over my lanai on Lake Ariana?
Deadwooding and weight reduction on a mature lakefront oak runs $500–$1,500 depending on size and what's under it. Best done March through May.
Are you close?
